How to cook corned beef for a Reuben sandwich, featuring…ginger ale?

Claudine Gaj, owner and chef at The Barracks Tavern, taught us how to prepare a vintage Reuben sandwich at home.

Ingredients:

  • Rye bread
  • Butter, melted
  • Sauerkraut
  • Swiss cheese slices
  • 1,000 Island dressing
  • Garlic
  • Ginger ale

Directions:

  • Sprinkle packet of spices on corned beef and rub in.
  • Put in deep roasting pan, add ginger ale until it’s 1/2 way up meat
  • Cover with foil, tightly roast in oven at 375 degrees for 3.5 – 4.5 hours
  • Let cool and slice
