Lee Chambers from the Dakin Humane Society is here to introduce you to Nori, our cuddly, sweet pet of the week!
Breed: Domestic longhair mixed cat
Age: 8 years
Color: Brown/Black/White tabby
Sweet Nori was recently found as a stray cat, so she’s a lady of mystery. We don’t know what other pets or people she lived with, but her sweet demeanor makes us believe she’ll be a welcome addition to a home that’s waiting for a special kitty like her. She’s shy, so she should be given a proper introduction to the household and a quiet room just for her for up to 2 weeks (if there’s already a resident pet) while she acclimates to the new home. Once she’s comfortable, she’ll be doing 2 of her favorite things…sitting on laps and making biscuits! Come meet her at our Springfield Adoption & Education Center.

Dakin’s Dr. Sherri Therrien Just Back from Humane Society’s Spayathon in Puerto Rico – Dakin was proud to welcome back our own Dr. Sherri Therrien to our Community Spay/Neuter Clinic yesterday. Dr. Sherri spent six days participating in a Spayathon, conducted to help curb the cat and dog overpopulation problem in Puerto Rico. What was already a problem worsened after Hurricane Maria, because so many islanders fled and had to leave their pets behind. Dr. Sherri’s team spayed or neutered over 3,000 dogs and cats in six days, operating in a MASH unit set up in a nearby sports arena! A remarkable achievement! The Spayathon is part of a huge, year-long effort to help animals in Puerto Rico that’s being led by the Humane Society of the United States.
