The Boar’s Head Festival is an unique annual tradition at Trinity United methodist Church in Springfield. Dozens of costumed performers and live animals will process down the aisle of the church while singing Christmas carols.
The Epiphany event from medieval England that celebrates the triumph of the Christ Child (represented by a lighted candle) over the evil in the world (represented by the serving of the boar’s head at a feast.) The procession is accompanied by continuous Christmas music provided by 75 singers of all ages and instrumentalists. Included in the procession are beefeaters, woodsmen, townspeople, snowsprites, the three Wise Men, and live animals including a horse, donkey, goats, sheep, falcon, llamas, and 3 camels.
