Nothing says spring like the sight of birds, especially one of the most graceful and elegant, the hummingbird. Avery Cross, from the Center for EcoTechnology, taught us how to upcycle our own hummingbird feeder.
-Shallow container (like the plastic container that hummus comes in or a Tupperware)
-String or something to tie with
-Homemade nectar (4 parts boiling water + 1 part sugar)
-Something red to decorate the feeder
-Cut a hole in the center of the lid of the container.
-Cut four small holes near the corners of the lid of the container.
-Cut a small hole in the top of the bottle cap.
-Put the top of the bottle through the hole in the lid (without cap on) and then fasten the bottle cap to the bottom of the lid.
-Tie string around bottle of container to hang it.
-Place nectar mix in container.
-Hang up and watch hummingbirds visit!
