Across the country, bells will ring at 11 AM on November 11th to commemorate the 100th anniversary of World War I. Brian Willette and Eric Segundo from the VFW tell us about some local celebrations to honor the fallen soldiers.

South Hadley will participate in the Bells of Peace memorial at a ceremony on Sunday at the Michael E. Smith Middle School at 100 Mosier Street in South Hadley.

Holyoke will also pay tribute to a serviceman from World War I. The last American officer killed in World War I was a Father from Holyoke who died just an hour before the war ended. Father William Davitt’s service will be honored on Saturday, November 10th at 4 PM. The graveside ceremony will take place at Calvary Cemetery at 2140 Northampton Street in Holyoke.
