(Mass Appeal) – Juneteenth is a significant day that honors the emancipation of enslaved individuals. This holiday originated in Texas in 1865 when it was announced that the Civil War had concluded and all enslaved people were granted freedom. Tracey Chapelle, event manager at Black Vivid, and Ariana Wilson, assistant manager, share the various events in Springfield to commemorate this important day.
