2018 has been the wettest year on record at Westover in Chicopee, and the year isn’t over yet.
This year—and especially this fall—we’ve had quite a bit of rain and even snow. At Westover Air Reserve Base in Chicopee, they’ve recorded 66.22 inches of rain, breaking the old record of 65.78 inches set in 2008.
“Here we are dealing with the wettest year we’ve ever had here in western Massachusetts in recorded history since the records went back to 1941,” Meteorologist Nick Bannin explained. “So we are above record rainfall for the year and we still have a few more weeks left in December.”
We are however finally catching a break from the wet weather. The cold air that has moved down from Canada is keeping a powerful winter storm to our south.
So were looking at dry, but cold, weather for the weekend.
