BOSTON (WWLP) – Attorney General Maura Healey’s Office led an extensive multi-state investigation into two human trafficking operations that involved “massage parlors” in western Massachusetts.

According to a news release from the Attorney General’s Office, on December 13th, local, state and federal agencies from both Massachusetts and New York worked together to take down the human trafficking operation. Four people were arrested and ten victims were found.

The victims were allegedly taken from New York, and “trafficked for commercial sex in multiple Massachusetts communities including Northampton, Hadley, Framingham, East Longmeadow and Agawam,” said the Attorney General.

Investigators arrested 50-year-old Feng Ling Liu, 48-year-old Jian Song, both of Sunderland, and 26-year-old Ting Ting Yin of New Hyde Park, N.Y., for allegedly trafficking women between New Hyde Park and Hadley Massage Therapy in Hadley, Feng Health Center in East Longmeadow, and Massage Body Work in Framingham.

The Attorney General said during the months-long investigation, evidence allegedly showed that Li and Liu were the “leaders of two separate but similar operations,” using “massage parlors” as fronts for human trafficking. They allegedly offered sexual activity between women and buyers in exchange for money.

Liu and Song, who are husband and wife, were arrested in Sunderland and scheduled to be arraigned in Eastern Hampshire District Court in Belchertown on Wednesday morning. They were charged with the following:

Trafficking of Persons for Sexual Servitude
Deriving Support from Prostitution
Money Laundering and Conspiracy

Yin, who is Liu and Song’s daughter, was arrested in New Hyde Park and faces the same charges. A rendition hearing for Yin will be scheduled at later date.

The Attorney General stated the following in the news release:

According to investigators, Liu, with help from Song, managed the financial and day-to-day aspects of the operations including recruiting women, advertising sexual services online, setting up appointments for sexual encounters, and transporting women. Liu and Song allegedly received the majority of the profits from these sexual encounters. Liu arranged for most of the women to stay in the same buildings where they were trafficked.

Also arrested on Tuesday was 52-year-old Shuzi Li of West Springfield, who was allegedly trafficking women between Flushing, Queens, N.Y. and her businesses, Pine Spa NoHo in Northampton and Agawam Massage Therapy in Agawam. She was arrested in West Springfield and scheduled to be arraigned in Northampton District Court on Wednesday morning. She was charged with the following:

Trafficking of Persons for Sexual Servitude
Deriving Support from Prostitution
Money Laundering

The Attorney General stated the following in the news release:

Like Liu, Li allegedly recruited women, advertised sexual services online, set up appointments for sexual encounters, and arranged for transportation for the women. The women allegedly stayed in the same rooms where Li arranged for them to provide sexual services to buyers for a fee. Authorities allege that Li typically received the majority of the profits from these sexual encounters.

AG Healey’s Victim Services Division is working with victim service organizations to make sure the ten victims identified have the assistance and services they need.
