A ‘Speak Out’ for women and girls fundraiser held at the Delaney House

News

Local authors spoke with hundreds of guests about issues affecting women and girls. The event was held at the Delaney House.

The fundraiser was for “Girls Inc. of Holyoke,” a non-profit organization committed to empowering young women in Holyoke, Springfield and Chicopee. 22News spoke with board members Suzanne Parker and Jossie Valentin.

Parker told 22News, “Its important to elevate this conversation to girls to create a culture and environment where all girls feel comfortable and safe.”

Valentin added, “Its an opportunity to empower young women, to remind them why they’re important, why their voices are important.”

The event helped raised money for a #GirlsToo movement.

The movement aims to include young girls’ voices to the Me Too conversation about sexual abuse.
