AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) – The woman shot in the face by a former Agawam police officer is suing the town of Agawam and four officers.

Britteney Miles is suing the town of Agawam for $1.5 million in U.S. District Court.

The I-Team had an exclusive interview with Miles with after the 2012 incident.  She was shot in the face after then officer Danielle Petrangelo’s gun accidentally went off.  Petrangelo was cleared of any wrongdoing in this incident, but was later fired for a separate incident.

Agawam police had gone to Miles’ home at 4:30am for reports of a breaking and entering.  Miles had opened the front door for police while holding her young daughter when she was shot in the face.

In the lawsuit, Miles says she is suffering from severe emotional distress, pain and suffering and loss of enjoyment of life.  The town, Petrangelo, Lt. Eric Gillis and two unnamed officers are defendants.
