All Bertucci’s locations in western Massachusetts have closed, as the company files for Chapter 11 in the United States Bankruptcy Court.
The company posted on Facebook Monday that 15 restaurants in total have closed, including those in West Springfield, Longmeadow, and Amherst.
Bertucci’s confirmed with 22News that the restaurants closed at the end of the day Sunday.
“We are taking several actions to provide support for our impacted team members: Many will transfer to another Bertucci’s restaurant, and for those who do not, we will do our best to help them find employment in their communities,” the company wrote on Facebook.
22News spoke with one West Springfield resident about the sudden closings.
“I’ve lived in west side my whole life, I’m not sure exactly how long it’s been there, but it’s been there for quite a while,” said Denise Shah of West Springfield. “I was shocked, cause a lot of people liked it, I mean when I did go there it was really good.”
Fifty-nine restaurants remain open, including 29 in central and eastern Massachusetts. Other locations also remain open in Connecticut.
Bertucci’s is headquartered in Boston. Here’s a full list of remaining restaurants.
