As dew points drop, expect some relief from the humid weather

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – It’s been another day in what seems an endless run of 90 degree heat, humidity and storms. Thankfully, you’ll be waking up to some different air Monday morning.

If you’re getting sick and tired of the heat, humidity and the thunderstorms that come along with it, we have some subtle changes on the way.

The past several days, a steady stream of hot and moist air has been flowing into Western Massachusetts from the southwest. Over the next 12 to 24 hours, the leading edge of some drier air will push into the Pioneer Valley.

There will be some shower and thunderstorms as this front comes through Sunday night. The result will be wind shift to the west, and gradually drier air.

The best way to show the transition from moist to dry air is to show the dew point.  Sunday afternoon, dew points are in the low 70s, with very oppressive air.

Late Sunday night and early Monday morning, dew points will drop into the 60s. It’s relative, but the air will continue to be drier through the day on Monday.

So, it’s a ten degree drop in dew point, from the 70s on Sunday to low 60s on Monday. It’s subtle, but you should expect to feel the difference on Monday.
