MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – A man’s body was discovered Monday morning washed ashore at the Myrtle Beach State Park, officials confirm.

Lt. Jonathan Evans with Myrtle Beach Fire Rescue says it’s unclear how the person died or how long the body was in the water before being discovered. Horry County officials were notified, Lt. Evans adds.

Captain John Harrelson with Horry County police says the victim is an adult male and the body was found in the surf on the beach just after 10 a.m. Monday morning.

While no other details about the victim were released, Capt. Harrelson confirms investigators are responding to the scene.

WBTW has a crew at the state park and will release more information as it is confirmed by police.
