Boston nonprofit comes to Springfield, helps renew under-served industrial cities

Dozens of people gathered at MassMutual Center in Springfield Tuesday morning to help revitalize under-served industrial cities.

Inner City Capital Connections, a nonprofit based in Boston, kicked off bringing the organization to Springfield Tuesday morning.

This is the first time the organization has brought this program to western Massachusetts..

The CEO of the organization told 22News 80 percent of the companies that go through the program will get the funding they need within two years.

“Think about MGM just as an example. There are lots of small businesses that want to complete for that business but sometimes those businesses can’t deliver,” said CEO of ICIC and former Massachusetts Secretary, Steve Grossman.

“So we want organizations like MGM and lost of others to nominate small businesses, send them our way,” Grossman said.

Grossman also told 22News they provide capacity building education coaching and mentoring.
