The success of Springfield’s Bright Nights at Forest Park was celebrated today, as the holiday lighting show gets ready to mark its 25th anniversary.
The Spirit of Springfield hosted the appreciation breakfast at the Sheraton in downtown Springfield.
Bright Nights has been a major success. Just last year, the event attracted more than 46,000 cars and more than 240 buses.
“It’s just important to give back to the community. And that’s just foremost what we’re trying to do, is really give back to the community. We have the opporunity to with our population and our staff and doing so, just with Bright Nights, is one of the areas where we can give back and donate time,” said Glen Sexton, Director of Community Restitution of the Sheriff’s Department.
The economic impact, has grown to more than $15-million-dollars.
The 25th season, of Bright Nights at Forest Park, will begin on November 27th.
