“Buy Ware Now” program encouraging people to move in

News

WARE, Mass. (WWLP) – A group of public, private, and nonprofit organizations are working together to entice people to buy homes in the Town of Ware. The “Buy Ware Now” program hosted a discussion Friday morning about federally-funded housing rehabilitation grants.

Realtors and property owners heard from the town’s Director of Planning and Community Development, Ruben Flores-Marzan, who urged them to explore using federal community block grants to upgrade their properties to make them more desirable for newcomers.

Flores-Marzan told 22News there’s an urgency to the program because of concerns over the future of this federal money; “We don’t know with the incoming administration whether there are some particulars to that in terms of the federal programs, that may or may not be effected. But in terms of what’s available, we can do a little bit.”

The home buyer recruitment program in Ware, is similar to first home ownership efforts  in Springfield, Chicopee, Holyoke and Amherst.
