Candlelight vigil in Chicopee remembers our fallen soldiers

The Vietnam Veterans of Western Massachusetts Chapter 111 held a candlelight vigil Sunday evening, where the names of all 15 Chicopee men killed in the war were read.

The vigil was at the Vietnam Veterans’ Plaza on Chicopee Street.

“We have 15 pillars here with their names on a plaque telling us about themselves,” David Kelliher of Veterans of America told 22News.

A Memorial Day parade will start Monday morning at 10 a.m. at the American Legion Post 452.

The parade will march down Exchange street, Center street and Front street to the Chicopee Veterans’ Memorial Plaza where speakers will remember veterans.
