SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A car crashed into a residential pool in Springfield on Sunday.

Springfield Fire Department told 22News they went to 39 Weymouth Street to find a 2003 Mercury Sable in a swimming pool.

The driver was a 91-year-old woman who lives across the street at 48 Weymouth Street, Springfield Fire told 22News.

She lost control of her car while backing up and backed across the street between two houses through bushes and a wooden fence and into the pool.

The driver was not injured and was able to be taken out of the car safely. Springfield Fire crews will be at the home until the car is removed.

A man who lives next door to the pool helped the driver get out of the car while it was still in water. He told 22News that he opened the sunroof to get her out and pushed the car into the shallow end.
