WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – What started as a car fire ended up damaging a house in downtown Westfield early Friday morning.

Westfield Deputy Fire Chief Eric Bishop told 22News that a firefighter received minor injuries trying to put out the fire at 46 Church Street.

Bishop says that they were called shortly after 1:30 on a report of a car on fire. He said that the car had been parked close to the house, and the siding ended up catching fire. The fire then got into the house itself through the windows.

Bishop said that the house cannot be lived in at this time.

The department is still looking into what caused the car to catch fire in the first place.
