SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The area’s Catholic community will learn the fate of Springfield’s Cathedral High School on Monday.

In a news release sent to 22News by Diocese Spokesman Mark Dupont, an announcement will be made at 2:30pm on Monday, at the Bishop Joseph Maguire Pastoral Center on Elliot Street in Springfield. The announcement will be made by Bishop Mitchell Rozanski.

Cathedral High School was seriously damaged by the tornado of 2011.

The bishop previously explained that money and a declining Catholic population in western Massachusetts are two hurdles that could make saving Cathedral difficult.
