LUDLOW, Mass. (WWLP) – Ludlow Police are searching Sunday night for a Chicopee man who they say kidnapped a child while stealing a car.
At 1:30 Sunday afternoon, 25-year-old Daniel Buck allegedly stole a woman’s 2013 Ford Escape, with her child still inside.
Ludlow Police Detective Sgt. Louis Tulik told 22News it happened at the O’Connell’s Convenience Plus on Center Street in Ludlow. The victim left her SUV running and quickly went inside to get some milk. That’s when Buck allegedly got in the driver’s seat, along with an unidentified female passenger.
They sped off and about 500 feet from the store, told the child to get out.
Buck was identified by a witness who saw it happen. He’s been charged with stealing vehicles in the past.UPDATE: Chicopee man faces kidnapping charge after stealing car
