93rd annual Mount Carmel Italian Festival in Enfield draws thousands

Connecticut

It’s the 93rd year of the Mount Carmel Italian Festival — which began on Friday in Enfield.

It’s the oldest Italian-American festival in Connecticut.

The festival includes authentic Italian-American Cuisine, music, and carnival rides. 2015 American Idol winner, Nick Fradiani performed Friday night.

President of the Mount Carmel festival Carl Sferrazza told 22News he’s thankful to be able to celebrate Italian culture for so many years.

“Most of us that are working here today are the grandson and even some cases great grandsons of the founders. We are proud of our heritage and I am glad we are able to provide this kind of entertainment right here in Enfield,” said Sferrazza.

Event officials say the festival draws more than 10,000 people annually. It wraps up this Sunday night.
