Police say on February 24th, officers responded to the area of 39 Henry Street on a shot spotter activation of five gunshots. Upon arrival, they found Eduardo Anes suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken to Hartford Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after.
After a several weeks long investigation, police were able to identify the suspect in the shooting as 32-year-old Luis Quinones-Aponte. A warrant was issued for his arrest and detectives learned that the motive for the shooting was narcotics related.
According to police, Quinones-Aponte had fled to Puerto Rico after the homicide. But through detectives assigned to the Department of Homeland Security, it was discovered that he would be returning to Connecticut on April 16th.
Police were then able to respond to Bradley International Airport and take Quinones-Aponte into custody.
Quinones-Aponte was charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder and criminal possession of a firearm. He was held on a $1 million bond.
