Just over the state line in Suffield, Connecticut a town employee has been placed on paid administrative leave after waiting a month to report an incident of suspected child abuse or neglect.
According to the Town of Suffield Spokesperson Kim Worthington, the incident was reported to the town employee on July 3.
Worthington said the incident did not happen at a town-related activity or program, but wasn’t reported to the Director of Parks and Recreation until August 2.
The Director of Parks and Recreation immediately notified police and the Department of Children and Families, but questions were raised as to whether the employee should have reported the incident sooner.
The First Selectman’s office began an administrative investigation right away and requested a criminal investigation into the issue.
The employee was placed on paid administrative leave during the investigation.
