Fire at Silver Sands State Park in Connecticut destroys three buildings

Connecticut

MILFORD, Conn. (WTNH) – The Milford Fire Department responded to a late night structure fire at Silver Sands State Park on Tuesday.

Milford fire crews and officials were dispatched to the Silver Sands State Park at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday night for a 3-building blaze in the area. Milford firefighters say they used both aerial and ground tactics to put out the fire. The incident was under control in approximately two hours.

According to officials, the three buildings that were destroyed in the fire were under construction. The buildings housed a concession stand/dining area, public restrooms, and an office.

So how does this impact every taxpayer in the state? The buildings were part of a $9 million project. The idea is to better serve beachgoers and bring more families down here.

It was all set to open on Memorial Day.

No word on how the fire started. It was reported that there were no injuries.

The incident is under investigation.
