Suspects in custody after shots fired at Hartford detectives, I-84 Westbound re-opened

Officials said suspects are in custody after shots were fired at Hartford police detectives on Thursday afternoon.

According to police, the incident took place in the area of Hillside Avenue.

Authorities said the suspects were in custody on Interstate 84 Westbound between exits 44 and 45.

I-84 West is now open and delays are expected, according to Hartford Police.

Hartford Police held a press conference to debrief the situation.

Police identified Anthony Torres, the driver, and Jose Ramos, the passenger and gunman as the suspects. Torres is held on a $350,000 bond and Ramos is held on a $500,000 bond. Both arraignments will take place on Friday.

In the conference, police report both suspects have extensive criminal history and gun they used was stolen out of Suffold County, New York. Police were able to recover the gun after a suspect threw it out of the car and onto the highway.

There has been no word on any injuries at this time.
