1 person hospitalized with serious injuries after shooting on Westminster St.

Police blocked off a section of Westminster Street in Springfield with yellow tape after a shooting incident late Thursday afternoon.

A 22News crew at the location spotted at least four Springfield police cruisers surrounding a house on Westminster St. around 4:30 p.m.

Police spokesman Ryan Walsh told 22News officers responded to the 0-100 block of Westminster St. for a ShotSpotter activation at 4 p.m.

One gunshot victim was taken to Baystate Medical Center with serious injuries. His condition is currently unknown.

The yellow tape surrounded one of the homes on Westminster Street. There were also several evidence cones placed on different spots on the street.

Police are now trying to piece together what led to the late Thursday afternoon shooting.
