2.5 kilos of heroin seized during Sturbridge traffic stop

STURBRIDGE, Mass. (WWLP) – Massachusetts State Police seized 2.5 kilos of heroin during a traffic stop on I-84E in Sturbridge.

According to Massachusetts State Police, a trooper pulled the car over at 12:30 a.m. Thursday for speeding and repeatedly drifting over lane markings. 

The driver, 27-year-old Juan Jaquez, and his passengers, 38-year-old Yanet Lopez Mendoza and 49-year-old Daniel Rivera-Rosado, allegedly couldn’t confirm who the owner of the vehicle was.

The three Lynn residents were arrested after Massachusetts State Police K9 Boomah located approximately 2.5 kilograms of heroin and $850 in cash in the car. 

All three suspects are now facing trafficking charges. Jaquez was also cited for speeding and committing a marked lanes violation.
