2 arrested after complaints of drug activity in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield police arrested two men Friday in response to resident and business concerns about drug activity at a plaza on Central Street.

Springfield Police Department spokesman Ryan Walsh told 22News 38-year-old Ricardo Cruz and 53-year-old Nelson Bonilla were taken into custody after narcotics detectives observed a drug deal.

Walsh said eight bags of heroin were seized during the arrest.

Cruz has been charged with distribution of a Class A drug, a subsequent offense, and possession of a Class A drug with the intent to distribute. Bonilla has been charged with possession of a Class A drug.
