Crime

Two Franklin County men were arrested early Wednesday morning in Springfield after they allegedly broke into multiple cars in the city’s McKnight neighborhood.

Springfield Police Department spokesman Ryan Walsh told 22News 19-year-old Enrique Brito, of Orange, and 18-year-old Deven Dodge, of Greenfield, have been charged with four counts of breaking and entering into a motor vehicle, two counts of larceny under $1,200, and receiving stolen property.

Walsh said Brito and Dodge were found at the intersection of Bowdoin Street and Ingersoll Grove, standing near a van with the passenger door open around 2:50 a.m. The owner of the van later confirmed to police that the items found on the two men belonged to her.

Officers also allegedly discovered multiple cars on Florida Street with their doors open. Walsh said the men were found to be in possession of a backpack that was stolen from a car in that area.
