2 injured after shots fired in Springfield

Shots were fired early Saturday morning in Springfield, injuring two people.

Captain Richard LaBelle told 22News police were called to Hall of Fame Avenue around 2 a.m. for reports of shots fired.

LaBelle said the victims, who police believe are connected to the shooting, were able to drive themselves to the Baystate Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. 

According to Springfield Police spokesperson Ryan Walsh, the shooting occurred after a confrontation between two people who knew each other in the parking lot of 1000 Hall of Fame Avenue.

Walsh said three vehicles were also damaged during the shooting. 

The Springfield Police Department is currently investigating the incident.
