2 men arrested, facing charges in connection to Springfield shooting


Two men were arrested Wednesday in connection to a shooting in Springfield.

According to Springfield Police Spokesperson Ryan Walsh, 26-year-old Maurice Johnson and 25-year-old Davis Charles both of Springfield were arrested at an apartment on the 800 block of State Street. 

Walsh said the men were arrested in connection a shooting Friday at the corner of Westord Circle and Massachusetts Avenue where a man was shot and then had his car stolen. 

Johnson and Charles are both charged with assault and battery with a firearm, firearm-armed carjacking, and attempt to commit a crime. 

Johnson, who allegedly was the shooter, is facing additional charges of use of a firearm in a felony, a firearm violation with 3 prior violent/drug crimes, and discharge of a firearm within 500 feet of a building.
