Springfield police seized a handgun and arrested two men following an attempted traffic stop Wednesday night.

Springfield Police Department spokesman Ryan Walsh told 22News 23-year-old David Beadle and 22-year-old Joshua Evans are facing multiple charges including possession of firearm without a FID card, possession of ammo without an ID, and resisting arrest.

Walsh said officers attempted to pull over Beadle after seeing him driving near the intersection of St. James Avenue and Bay Street, and realizing he did not have a valid license.

Beadle allegedly drove away when officers got close to his car, but lost control of the vehicle and crashed in the front yard of a home on Westminster Street.

Beadle and Evans were taken into custody after allegedly running away from the crash. A third passenger was never caught.
