2 Springfield men arrested on drug charges after early Sunday morning shooting

Two men are facing drug charges after a shooting on Bridge St. early Sunday morning.

Springfield Police said they arrested 39-year-old Oren Anderson and 41-year-old Edgardo Nieves inside a parking lot at 150 Bridge St. around 3:45 a.m. following the early morning shooting.

While looking into what led up to the shooting, Springfield Police say they stopped the car Anderson and Nieves were in, while they were attempting to leave the parking garage and yelling profanities at potential witnesses.

Police told 22News they found several vials of crack-cocaine in the center console after searching the vehicle. While in custody, Springfield police say Nieves repeatedly spit on an officer.

Nieves is charged with the following:

  • Possession with the intent to distribute a class B drug
  • 3 counts of assault and battery on a police officer
  • Disorderly conduct

Anderson is charged with the following:

  • Possession with the intent to distribute a class B drug
