2 Springfield men arrested on drug charges after police investigation

Two Springfield residents are facing drug charges after an investigation into drug activity on Worthington Street.

Springfield police posted on the department’s Facebook page that 42-year-old Andre Edmund and 37-year-old Frenshaun Smith were arrested Friday on charges including possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute. Additional charges are listed below:

  • Andre Edmund: Three counts of distribution of crack-cocaine
  • Frenshaun Smith: Distribution of crack-cocaine​ and ​​​​​​arrest warrant for failing to show up for jury duty

Springfield police say they seized 15 grams of crack cocaine after an investigation into the sale of the drug from the back of Worthington Discount Liquors on the 900 block of Worthington Street.

Officers say they spotted Edmond and an employee of Worthington Discount Liquors, Smith, involved in a drug transaction involving crack cocaine.

Edmund was pulled over and arrested on State and Terrace Streets, while Smith was taken into police custody in the rear of 941 Worthington Street. Springfield police say both individuals had crack cocaine in their possession.
