3 men facing charges following Belchertown explosions investigatons


BELCHERTOWN, Mass. (WWLP) – Three men are being summoned to court following an investigation into multiple reports of explosions in Belchertown mid-September.

According to Belchertown Police Chief Pronovost, it was determined that explosives were set off from a business on Sargent Street on September 10.

“The investigation revealed that the involved parties had no intent to harm the general public; however, their actions caused great alarm to the community by exploding three homemade devices,” Pronovost said in a news release sent to 22News.

A 29-year-old Belchertown man and a 20-year-old Ware man were summoned to court on three counts of placing an explosive device and orderly contact. A 23-year-old Belchertown man was summoned to court for two counts of placing an explosive device and disorderly conduct.

Under law, the suspects’ names cannot be released until they’ve been arraigned on these charges in court.
