6 facing drug charges after Springfield police investigation

Six people are facing drug-related charges after a police investigation into drug activity at 11 Chase Avenue.

Springfield police told 22News on Wednesday, July 25, they seized more than 60 rocks of crack cocaine, heroin and more than $1200 in cash after arresting 25-year-old Angel Valdes, 33-year-old Luis Almodovar of Springfield, 26-year-old Brian Smith of Springfield, 23-year-old Desiree Gonzalez of Springfield, 30-year-old Brian Annette of West Springfield (no picture) and 34-year-old Chelsea Breton of Agawam (no picture).

Police say Valdes is currently out on bail after a March arrest for possession with the intent to distribute a class B substance and breaking and entering into an undercover police car. He faces the following charges:

  • Possession to distribute a class B drug
  • Three counts of distribution of a class B substance
  • Operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended license
  • Resisting arrest
  • Conspiracy to violate drug laws

Police say they tried to pull Almodovar over on Sumner Ave. but sped off when officers activated their emergency lights. Almodovar was taken into custody on the Route 5 Southbound on-ramp to I-91. He is being charged with:

  • Possession to distribute a class B drug
  • Three counts of distribution of a class B substance
  • Operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended license
  • Resisting arrest
  • Conspiracy to violate drug laws

Smith was arrested after police executed a search warrant at 11 Chase Ave. He is facing the following charges:

  • Possession to distribute a class B drug
  • Three counts of distribution of a class B substance
  • Operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended license
  • Conspiracy to violate drug laws

Gonzalez and Annette were also arrested and charged with distribution of a class B substance.

Valdes, Gonzalez, and Brenton were all taken into custody at 102 Fort Pleasant Ave. Breton was charged with possession of heroin.
