Seven women are in police custody after efforts to stop prostitution in the area of School, High, Maple and Temple Streets this week.
Springfield police posted on the department’s Facebook page that 32-year-old Dolores Crichlow of Springfield, 31-year-old Kara Duval, 42-year-old Svetlana Ivanov of Springfield, 29-year-old Samantha Fruwirth, 33-year-old Theresa Scanlon of Springfield, 28-year-old Amanda Fernandes, and 32-year-old Rose Sorrell of Chicopee are all facing charges of prostitution and engaging in sexual conduct for a fee.
Authorities say Crichlow was arrested around 2:20 p.m. on Monday, in the Edwards and Chestnut Streets area after engaging in sexual conduct for a fee and had two default Springfield District Court warrants.
Around 2:30 p.m. Monday, Springfield officers say they arrested Duval for engaging in sexual conduct for a fee. Duval was arrested on Worthington Street.
Ivanov was arrested around 3 p.m. Monday, in the area of Edwards and Chestnut Streets.
On Wednesday, Springfield officers say they arrested Fruwirth in the Temple and School Streets area around 12:30 p.m. Scanlon and Fernandes were both arrested around 1 p.m. in the Temple and School Streets area. Around 1:30 p.m., officers arrested Sorrell in the Union and School Streets area.
Springfield police say the investigation into prostitution in the areas mentioned was a result of listening to community members concerns in their C3 meetings.
