Alleged crack cocaine dealer arrested in Springfield


SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield police arrested a man Wednesday following an investigation into crack cocaine sales in the city’s McKnight neighborhood.

Springfield Police Department spokesman Ryan Walsh told 22News 30-year-old Jose Mateo has been charged with distribution of a Class B drug, and possession with intent to distribute a Class B drug in connection with the investigation of sales at 91 Bowles Street.

Mateo was taken into custody on Union Street Wednesday afternoon. Walsh said narcotics officers recovered 9.5 grams of crack during his arrest.
