Alleged Springfield heroin dealer arrested day after nearby overdose death


SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – An alleged heroin dealer was arrested in Springfield Tuesday as part of an investigation in response to an overdose death on Monday.

Springfield Police Department spokesman Ryan Walsh told 22News narcotics detectives arrested 26-year-old Christopher Roman after observing him make a drug deal on the 700 block of Worthington Street Tuesday– the same area where the apparent overdose victim was found dead the day prior.

Walsh said 11 bags and $50 in cash were recovered from Roman during his arrest. He has been charged with possession with intent to distribute a Class A drug.
