Arrest made in DuPont Middle School hoax threat

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Chicopee Police have arrested an 11 year old for the Dupont Middle School threat posted on Snapchat.

A threat was posted on Snapchat Sunday targeting Dupont Middle School in Chicopee.

The alleged threat reads, “If you go to Dupont, do not go on March 19th. There will be a shooting there unless you want your life taken.”

The person goes on to set a goal of shooting 32 students and 13 teachers, and says they were bullied and want revenge.

Chicopee Police Officer Mike Wilk told 22News the 11 year old they arrested is not a Chicopee resident and does not go to school in Chicopee.

Wilk says the suspect admitted it was a hoax, but they will have extra police officers in school tomorrow and more patrols around the schools just as a precaution.
