A Bronx man was arrested after he allegedly tried to steal thousands of dollars worth of merchandise from Home Depot in Chicopee on Thursday.

Chicopee Police Officer Mike Wilk told 22News 24-year-old Carlos Colon has been charged with larceny over $250.

Wilk said loss prevention officers called police to the store at 3:35 p.m., after observing three men and a woman loading up carriages with items, and using store credit cards to attempt to buy them. Officers also observed a man parked outside on his cell phone, believed to be acting as a “lookout” for the suspects.

Wilk told 22News the other suspects had already left the store by the time officers got there, but Colon was stopped and it was determined he tried to steal more than $6,200 in goods.

The man believed to be the lookout was trespassed by the business for his alleged involvement.

Colon was held without bail pending his Friday morning arraignment.
