Chicopee man charged with second OUI offense

A Chicopee man is facing several charges after he was allegedly driving under the influence Tuesday night.

Chicopee police told 22News 37-year-old Michael Wojcik was arraigned in court Wednesday morning after being held on $240 bail.

He is charged with the following:

  • OUI liquor (2nd offense)
  • Marked lanes violation
  • Negligent operation of a motor vehicle
  • Possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle

Chicopee police were called to the Arby’s located at 1483 on Granby Road for a well-being check on a man who seemed under the influence of something around 6:33 p.m.

Dispatch was told the man was driving a white Ford pickup truck. An on-duty officer who was patrolling the area at the time of the call spotted the vehicle on Granby Rd.

The officer was able to stop the vehicle after one failed attempt and noticed that Wojcik had bloodshot and half-closed eyes.

Further investigation revealed an open container of Whiskey in the front cup holder.
