Chicopee man pleads guilty to heroin distribution

A Chicopee man pleaded guilty in federal court on Friday to selling heroin.

In a news release to 22News, the Department of Justice said 27-year-old Steven Brown pled guilty to one count of distribution and possession with intent to distribute heroin.

Sentencing has been scheduled for January 15, 2019.

The Justice Department said Brown sold 300 bags of heroin to a cooperating witness in June 2016.

Brown has six previous convictions in state court for drug distribution offenses between 2008 and 2013.

He was already facing state drug charges at the time of this offense in 2016.

The charge Brown is facing provides a sentence of no more than 30 years in prison, a minimum of three years of supervised release and a fine of $1 million.
