CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – A breaking and entering suspect is facing additional charges after Chicopee police say he stole a bike from the police station once he was released from custody.

Chicopee Police Officer Mike Wilk told 22News 29-year-old Elliot Baroski was arrested early Thursday morning after he was found on the roof of a pizza shop on Grattan Street. A witness allegedly told police he tried to break into the business, which was later found to have a window with a screen missing and milk crates propped against it.

For that crime, Baroski was charged with felony breaking and entering in the nighttime and trespassing.

Less than 12 hours later, Wilk said Baroski went to the police station to pick up his bicycle, but was asked to come back at a different time.

“At that time, a person, who came to our PD on his bicycle, was also in the lobby,” Wilk said. “When Mr Baroski left, he decided it would be a good idea to take this persons bike, since he could not get his, without permission, and flee our parking lot.”

Baroski will now be facing additional charges.

Wilk said the incident is “from the files of what not to do when released from custody.”
