An East Longmeadow woman is facing an OUI charge after she allegedly drove erratically and backed her car into a Chicopee police cruiser.

Chicopee Police Officer Mike Wilk told 22News police were called to Memorial Drive at 5:45 p.m. for multiple reports of an erratic driver.

Wilk said when the officer tried to pull over 52-year-old Ellen Ahern, she continued to drive away from police, nearly hitting curbs and going side to side.

Ahern then allegedly pulled into a grocery store parking lot and hit a sign. Wilk said when the officer got out of his car to talk to her, she backed into the police cruiser.

Wilk said Ahern admitted to drinking “too much,” and as she left her car, several nips bottles allegedly fell out onto the ground.

Ahern is charged with OUI liquor, failure to stop for police, possession of an open container of alcohol, and a marked lanes violation.

She was held on a $40 fee and personal recognizance before court Wednesday morning.
