CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – A Chicopee woman is facing noise-related charges after police were allegedly called to an apartment building six times within two days for noise complaints.
Chicopee Police Officer Mike Wilk told 22News, most recently officers were called to the second floor of 53 West Street on Sunday at 4:11 a.m.
Wilk said officers had been called to the same apartment nine times in the past month for similar noise/disturbance complaints and the renter of the residence, later identified as 24-year-old Kara Moreno, had already been issued an ordinance and a criminal complaint.
When officers tried to speak to Moreno Sunday, she allegedly refused. However, officers were able to enter the apartment to stop the disturbance.
Wilk said when officers got inside the apartment they saw more than 50 people inside the residence, large groups of people leaving out the back, multiple empty alcohol bottles, and a DJ and sound system set up.
One neighbor said the problem is nothing new.
“I personally called four times in two nights,” said Matthew Delishe. “At three o’clock four o’clock, five o’clock nothing was getting done. Three o’clock in the morning at five o’clock in the morning when you can’t sleep, we have a two and a half-year-old almost three-year-old daughter.”
Moreno was arrested. She is charged with disturbing the peace, keeper of a noisy and disorderly house and excessive noise. She was released on $40 bail.
