DA: Victim found dead in Springfield park appeared to have gunshot wound

The victim whose body was found in Emerson Wight Park on Saturday appeared to have suffered from a gunshot wound, the Hampden County District Attorney’s Office announced on Tuesday.

DA spokesman Jim Leydon told 22News a resident walking in the park found the body Saturday morning.

Anyone who was in the area of the park or Marble Street early Saturday morning and may have seen or heard something unusual, is asked to Text-a-Tip by texting the word CRIMES (2-7-4-6-3-7) and type the word SOLVE into the body of the message followed by your tip. Anyone with information can also call the Springfield Police Department’s Homicide Unit at 413-787-6355.
