Driver arrested after leading Hadley police on chase

HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) – A teen driver was arrested in Hadley Sunday following a short police chase that ended in a crash.

Hadley Police Lt. Mitchell Kuc told 22News officers tried to pull over 19-year-old Symon Dastoli, of Florence, on South Maple Street at 4:13 p.m. for not appropriately displaying registration plates.

Instead of stopping, Dastoli allegedly drove over two sets of curbs and continued to travel down South Maple Street at a high rate of speed, forcing other cars off the road.

Kuc said Dastoli’s car came to a stop in a corn field after he lost control at the intersection of South Maple Street and East Hadley Road and struck a rock.

Dastoli is now facing the following charges:

  • Attaching wrong registration plates
  • Unregistered motor vehicle
  • License suspended
  • Failure to stop for police
  • Operating to endanger
  • Speeding
  • Marked lanes violation
  • Failure to stop (sign)
  • Disorderly conduct
  • Injury/Deface property

In addition to the charges above, Kuc said the Hadley Police Department petitioned the RMV to deem Dastoli an immediate threat and revoke his license.
