Fake $100 bills circulating in Springfield

Springfield police are warning residents about fake $100 bills that have been circulating around the city.

Springfield Police Department spokesman Ryan Walsh told 22News detectives are investigating reports of fake cash that has been handed over to businesses, taxi drivers, and people making internet exchanges in person.

If you are a clerk and spot fake money, police ask that you try to get a detailed description of the person and a license plate number if they leave in a car.

Police are also reminding residents that internet exchanges can be made at the police department.
